English - French translation?

How would i ask "has the situation improved since Sarkozy came to power?"

My guess was "la situation a-t-elle amélioré depuis Sarkozy est au pouvoir?"

I don't know if the first half of the sentence makes sense or if etre au pouvoir is the correct phrase to use. If it is, would I use the present tense of "etre" (est) or the passé composé (a été)?English - French translation?
"La situation a-t-elle amélioré depuis Sarkozy est au pouvoir?"

Améliorer et s’améliorer. Use the reflexive (with “être” of corse)

Interrogation with inversion:

La situation s’est-elle amélioré depuis QUE Sarkozy est au pouvoir?

Interrogation without inversion. “Est-ce que”

Est-ce que la situation s’est amélioré depuis que Sarkozy est au pouvoir?
I would say the exact same thing. I think you're right!!!English - French translation?
depuis que

and the present is correct (unlike in english)English - French translation?
Rodica gave a good answer, although I would say, "La situation s'est-elle améliorée depuis que Sarkozy est au pouvoir?" The alternative he/she gave is correct and yes, the present tense is correct as well.
