What is the original Voltaire quote in French? (translation from English --> French)?

Voltaire said that the purpose of Candide was to "bring amusement to a small number of men of wit." I want to use this in an essay but it needs to be in French and I can't find the original quote anywhere. Help? What is the original Voltaire quote in French? (translation from English --%26gt; French)?
It seems Voltaire has used this phrase in a letter to the Comte de Choiseul, but not about Candide . He was quoting another man's words . " r茅jouir un petit nombre de gens d'esprit " .
If you want to keep it anyway just add before " Le propos de ce livre est de r茅jouir un petit nombre de gens d'esprit ". It will look in in the style of the time and I think nobody will be able to check . Propos means purpose in classical French ( I think the English word comes from it ) .What is the original Voltaire quote in French? (translation from English --%26gt; French)?
I've found a bilingual version on line, but can't trace your quote. I've only ever read the book in French, and don't remember this wording after so many years. Happy hunting! http://www.tclt.org.uk/voltaire/Candide.鈥?/a>
